NOTICES

PAVEMENT WINDOW DISPLAY

The display put together by the Guides for Thinking Day has been much appreciated and questions have been asked about the significance of the small glass jars.  Nicky Mullen, the Guide Leader, tells us that all the girls were asked to fill a small jar with items that are personal to them.

COMMUNION STEWARDS

Additional helpers are needed to join the Communion Stewards Rota.  Currently there are very few helpers which means current Stewards are having to juggle the days they are needed.

It is not an onerous task and the more folk on the rota the less often they are needed.  Please speak to Ronnie Wilkinson (Tel: 0151 394 3504) if you can help.

COMMUNITY LUNCH

The next Community Lunch is on Wednesday, 4th March.  Please phone Sam before Tuesday morning if you would like to book a place.  The meal this time is beef scouse with chunky bread, followed by apple pie and ice cream.  Contact Sam on 0151 625 3224 or email westkirbymc@yahoo.com

LENT SERIES WITH DEACON ELLIE

Further to the previous notice the following is an update on the sessions being held by Deacon Ellie focussing on “Living, Sharing, Telling the Good News”:

The four sessions began on the 23rd February and will be held in person each Monday at 10.30 a.m. at Moreton Methodist Church.  The remaining sessions will be held on the 2nd, 9th & 16th March.

Ellie will also run the same session on a Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. on zoom and the link for this is https://zoom.us/j/94209585834?

Password=b7xorILIGROqqfrpgicWIYqgXX92bi.1

The dates for the online sessions began on 24th February and will continue on the 3rd, 10th & 17th March.  Everyone welcome either in person or online or both.

Ellie has originally considered doing a third option, in person at either St. Luke’s or West Kirby, but it proved difficult to get a time slot that would work for both Ellie and either of the churches in terms of availability.

Hope you can make it to either Moreton or via zoom.

TECHY COFFEE

The next session with volunteers from Age UK who can help with problems with your iphones, ipads or laptops will be on Friday, 6th March.

THURSDAY AFTERNOON FELLOWSHIP

The next meeting of TAF will be on 12th March at 2.30 p.m. in the Hilda Shore Room when the speaker will be Erica Rimmer talking about working with the Asylum Seekers.

BIBLE STUDY GROUP

I committed to restarting the Bible Study Group earlier this year in the light of us sadly losing Eleanor, who had hosted this Group in recent times.  I have been speaking with Cate at St. Luke’s as there has also been recent demand there for a daytime Bible Study Group.  So, we will do a joint Group, alternating venues.   West Kirby will host once a month, and St. Luke’s also once a month, so the Group will meet fortnightly, with Cate and I alternating facilitating.  We have decided to launch the new Group after the Lent Sessions finish, so people may wish to do the Lent Series then naturally flow into the Bible Study Group.  More information to follow nearer the time.

WHAT ARE WE PRAYING FOR AT THE MOMENT?

As part of our journey as a church family, we would like to commit to gathering prayers on your heart (posted in the “Prayer Suggestion Box” in the foyer).  These ideas will then be included in the Notices so we can all prayer at home for these issues, as well as in church.

Can we please pray this week for:

  • People in our community who feel isolated
  • Peace to come to Ukraine and to Gaza
  • Those affected by flooding and drought due to climate change

WIRRAL FOOD BANK

Help support the food bank with donations this Lent.  In the six weeks of Lent the food bank will provide emergency food parcels for local people and families facing hardship.

The amount of help needed is outstripping the donations they are receiving.  Please donate an item or two from the following list:

Tinned custard, Tinned fruit, Tinned rice pudding

Tinned vegetables, Tinned potatoes,

Tinned meat, Tinned spaghetti

Toothbrushes, Shampoo, Sanitary towels

(Items may be left in the box in the foyer)

Items for inclusion in the notices should be sent to the Editor, Elaine Phillips,

Flat 3 Lyndhurst, 82 Meols Drive, West Kirby, CH48 5DD (Tel: 07733 057 315) or emailed to elaine5649.ep@gmail.com by 11.59 p.m. on the Tuesday preceding the Sunday of publication.  Any additional notices may be handed to the Steward on duty to be read out to the congregation.
