  • Innocent civilians in Lebanon targeted by both Hamas predators and Israeli attacks.
  • Wisdom, humility and integrity for world leaders at this fragile time.
  • Deacon Ellie as she leads us into the next phase of our “Future Story”.

Please remember to put any prayer suggestions in the box in the foyer

NOTICES

EASTER SUNDAY FLOWERS

If you would like to make a donation towards the cost of decorating the church for Easter, please place it in the basket in the foyer. Please bring a flower/flowers on Easter Sunday to decorate the cross in church.

EASTER OFFERING ENVELOPES

Envelopes are now available.  All money collected goes to support global mission partners and organisations.  The offering will be dedicated at a Circuit Easter Offering Service at St. Luke’s, Hoylake on Sunday, 26th April at 4.30 p.m.  The Service has been prepared by Methodist Women in Britain with the title “Unbound – a Gospel that breaks barriers”.

TENEBRAE SUPPER & COMMUNION SERVICE

You are warmly invited to join us at 6.30 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, 2nd April for a simple supper of soup and bread with cheese and fruit followed by a Communion Service led by Re John Barnett.  There will then be a solemn observation of dimming candlelight as we read scripture passages relating to the events of Jesus’ death on the cross.

To assist with numbers for catering please let Sam know if you would like to attend or add your name to the sign-up sheet in the foyer.

GOOD FRIDAY – CROSSES ALONG THE PROM

Meet at the car park near the pedestrian end off Salisbury Avenue at 10.15 a.m. on 3rd April for prayer.  Then stand along the prom until 11.30 a.m. ending with prayer back at the car park.  If you intend going please let Carole or Sam know and they will meet you at church at 9.45 a.m. and provide you with a cross to carry.

GOOD FRIDAY

On Good Friday, 3rd April the church will be open between 12 noon and 3 p.m. to reflect the hours when darkness came over the sky as Jesus hung on the cross. There will be a series of reflective prayer activity stations set up in the church for people to visit at their own pace.  Sam will be in the foyer serving hot drinks and toasted hot cross buns at the end of your visit.  Just turn up between 12 noon and 3 p.m.

COMMUNITY LUNCH

The next lunch is on Wednesday 8th April.  Please let Sam know if you would like to book a place.  Sam’s contact details are Tel: 0151 625 3224 or email westkirbymc@yahoo.com

BIBLE STUDY GROUP

It is now confirmed that the new Bible Study Group (joint between here at West Kirby and St. Luke’s, Hoylake) will meet twice a month on the second and fourth Thursday morning of each month between 10.30 a.m. and 12 noon.  The venue will alternate between St. Luke’s on the second Thursday each month and West Kirby on the fourth Thursday each month.  The first session is on Thursday, 9th April at St. Luke’s.    We will be using Tom Wright’s “Matthew for Everyone” Bible Study Guide as an aid to our discussions.  Please let Sam know if you are interested in trying this Group.

THURSDAY AFTERNOON FELLOWSHIP

The next meeting of TAF will be on 9th April at 2.30 p.m. in the Hilda Shore Room.  The speaker will be Deacon Ellie Griffin.  All welcome.

SUNDAY 12th APRIL – GROWTH DAY

Deacon Ellie will be leading our next Café Church Service on 12th April and she would like us all to stay on after the service for lunch and reflection on the findings from the “Listening” part of our Future Story strategy.  We will be discerning together the key issues coming out of our listening so we can decide what to focus on over the coming months.  A generous sandwich and cake lunch (vegetarian and gluten-free options available) will be provided by the church.  All will be finished by 2 p.m.
