NOTICES

CHURCH FAMILY

Following Eleanor Macarthur’s funeral Moira would like to thank all those who attended and for their support which was much appreciated.  Thanks also for the generous donations made after the service which enabled her to send a cheque for £285 to the Stroke Fund at Arrowe Park Hospital.  It will be used to help support patients and their families starting their own uncertain journey just as theirs ends.

WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY

St. Bridget’s will be hosting a united service on Sunday, 25th January at 4.30 p.m. to celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.  All welcome.  It would be lovely to have a good representation attending from the Methodist Church.

CHURCH COUNCIL

The next meeting of Church Council is on Tuesday, 3rd February 2026 at 7.30 p.m. in Room 1.  This is an open meeting where all are welcome, but only members of CC may vote of any matters,

THURSDAY AFTERNOON FELLOWSHIP

SOME GOOD NEWS

Depressed by all the bad news in 2025?  Here is some good news to counteract it:

Trachoma (a contagious eye disease) was eliminated in Egypt, Senegal, Burundi, Mauritania, Fiji, Togo and Papua New Guinea and in India, Pakistan and Vietnam in 2024.

Global hunger is falling for the first time since the pandemic.  In 2025 the world produced record harvests of wheat, rice and soybeans.

Over half a billion children were fed at schools globally last year, 100 million more than were fed in 2020.

(Thanks to Polly Spencer for this good news item)

BEREAVEMENT JOURNEY COURSE

This is a course that has already been hosted by St. Bridget’s.  However, West Kirby Churches Together have now agreed to take this on as a joint initiative by sharing the preparation, hosting, facilitating etc. as a team.  The next seven-week course will begin on Wednesday, 28th January 2026 and will be hosted each week by us at West Kirby Methodist Church.

The course will be helpful for someone who has been affected by bereavement recently or maybe a couple of years ago but is still processing that loss.  Speak to Sam if you would like to know more.

A couple of volunteers each week are needed as we will be offering refreshments upon arrival (1.45 p.m.-2.15 p.m.) during the interval (approx. 3 p.m.) and to wash up afterwards.  The first week (28th January) is covered but please let Sam know if you can volunteer for any of the ongoing dates which are:

4th, 11th & 25th February

4th, 11th & 18th March

Please see posters on notice boards for further details.

Items for inclusion in the notices should be sent to the Editor, Elaine Phillips,

Flat 3 Lyndhurst, 82 Meols Drive, West Kirby, CH48 5DD (Tel: 07733 057 315) or emailed to elaine5649.ep@gmail.com by 11.59 p.m. on the Tuesday preceding the Sunday of publication.  Any additional notices may be handed to the Steward on duty to be read out to the congregation.
